Therapeutic Massage Therapy alongside Deep Tissue Massage techniques is restorative to the body – supporting symptoms related to pain, tension and soreness in particular areas of the body as well as relieving stress in the mind.

  • Myofascial Release is often used at the beginning of each session with Maddi – this is done without lotion on the skin and can feel like stretching or a pulling sensation.

  • Deep tissue does not mean it will be a painful massage.

  • Maddi does not believe the myth “no pain, no gain” – as when the body is flinching / bracing in pain, the massage therapist is engaging a sympathetic nervous response (stress response).

  • By engaging a pressure that feels “just right” for the client (feeling of soothing + supportive) – this enhances the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest), changing the body’s response to pain and enhances the effects of relaxation.

  • Combination of therapeutic techniques and relaxation techniques are always used.

  • Massage Therapists do not diagnose acute or chronic injuries. In case of diagnosis, a physio is recommended.
